Town of Roanoke (Park Department)

Is looking to hire a part-time park employee to assist with daily operations at the park and at times assist the utility department around the Town. Applications will be accepted at the Town Hall located at 141 W. Third Street, Roanoke, Indiana 46783.

Requirements:

  • Available Now – October 31
  • Up to 25 hrs. per week
  • Strong Teamwork and Communication Skills
  • Ability to lift 60-75 lbs. daily.
  • Work schedule varies depending on activities at the park and around town as needed.
  • Ability to carry out daily tasks independently, as needed or when needed.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
  • Willing to perform general hands-on labor of all sorts around the park. Summary below but not limited to: Empty trash, and general maintenance items at and around the park (no mowing but periodical trimming, edging, spraying, pick up sticks/trash, etc.).
    • Maintain Landscape Areas.
    • Maintain, clean, and stock bathrooms at the Park.
    • Maintain and check playground equipment, tennis courts, basketball courts, pavilion etc.
  • Prep ball diamonds for games along with soccer fields.
  • The pay range is $13.50-$15.50 per hour dependent on experience and qualifications.

Preferred Skills (not required):

  • Ability to operate Gator, edger, trimmer, etc.

Knowledge of:

  • The standard methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment used for general park grounds maintenance.
  • Maintaining athletic fields.
  • Fertilizer & herbicides.
  • Basic techniques of trades work related to park facilities maintenance, preventive maintenance, and operational repairs of such equipment.
  • General knowledge of the games of baseball and soccer.
  • Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions in handling pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, etc.

Ability to:

  • Perform moderate manual labor outdoors in temperature extremes for extended periods.
  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with board (s), supervisor, co-workers, and the public.
